• What is the Student Travelcard?

  Student Travelcard is Ireland's leading discount card available to both second and third level students in full time education.

  It is the only student card that can save students up to 40% on Irish Transport systems.

  Cardholders can also avail of over 200 retail discounts nationwide.

• Why should I get a Student Travelcard?

  The Student Travelcard at a cost of just €12 (plus €3 charge from our campus agents) will save you up to €29.50 in one journey on Inter City Rail Services, €5 on weekly tickets on Dublin Bus and Luas Services, all of which means that you will recoup almost the full cost of the Student Travelcard on one journey with the following partners:

  • Bus Eireann
  • LUAS
  • DART

• What other discounts will I get with my Student Travelcard?

  Cardholders can avail of over 200 other discounts on leading brands and products nationwide.

• Who is eligible for a Student Travelcard?

  All full time second and third level students are entitled to apply for a Student Travelcard. This includes trainee Chartered Accountants, trainee Solicitors registered with the Law Society, full time FAS Students and full time PLC students.

  Also eligible are those currently studying for at least 6 months duration with a minimum 20 hours class time per week. Full time foreign students who meet the above criteria are also entitled to apply for a Student Travelcard whilst in Ireland.

• I need a card in a hurry!

  No problem, just visit one of our express photo stations and we can make card for you on the spot. This is the quickest way to get your card made. [Contact directly for opening hours]

• How do I pay for the card?

  There are 6 possible methods of payment:

  • Credit / Laser Card [Visa / MasterCard]
  • Bank draft
  • Postal Order
  • Cash [only with our on campus agents]
  • Cheque
  • AIB Voucher [only during promotional period]

• Where do I send the completed form?

  Send the form to:

  Student Travelcard,
  15 Porters Avenue
  Coolmine Industrial Estate,
  Clonsilla,
  Dublin 15.

• Do I need to include a stamped addressed envelope to have the card returned to me?

  No, postage costs are included in the application fee.

• When will I receive my Student TravelCard?

  The card will be sent to you within 5 working days of receipt.

• Why does the College/School Administrator need to stamp the card?

  This control measure is in place to ensure that only students who are genuinely in second and third level can apply for and avail of the discounts associated with the Student Travelcard.

• What happens if I fill my postal application form in the form incorrectly?

  If an incomplete or incorrect form is received it will be rejected and returned to the applicant. An administration fee of €5.00 will apply. You will then need to reapply with the full fee again. Please therefore ensure that you have correctly completed all necessary details on the application form.

• What are Inter City Irish Rail Services?

  InterCity services run from Dublin’s Heuston and Connolly Stations to Belfast, Sligo, Ballina, Westport, Galway, Limerick, Ennis, Tralee, Cork, Waterford and Rosslare Europort. Services also run between Rosslare Europort and Limerick; Cork and Tralee; and Cork and Limerick. There are 87 Intercity stations in Ireland. Services are divided into Standard and Superstandard Classes.

• What are Commuter Rail Services?

  Commuter Rail Services include all DART services and Commuter services, up to 150 kilometres. Please note the discounts refer to the purchase of Weekly and Monthly tickets only on the nominated services.

• I am 16 years old and still in secondary school. Am I eligible to apply?

  Yes. Have the application form stamped and signed by your school. Enclose 2 passport sized photos, one of which should have your name clearly marked on the back. Then send the application with the relevant fee to Student Travelcard, 15 Porters Avenue, Coolmine Industrial Estate, Clonsilla, Dublin 15.

• Do I need to advise of a change of address?

  Yes. Please call 1890 457 056 to let our team know of your change.

• Do I need to pay again if I change my address?

  No. Change of address does not require a reissue of the card.

• What happens if my card is lost or stolen?

  For lost or stolen cards, you will need to contact us first and then resend €12 with your details.  We will then immediately re-issue your card.

  If you’re really lucky though it could be handed in to us and we can just post it right back out to you again!

• Is the Student Travelcard accepted for discounted travel with any other transport companies?

  Yes, Bus Eireann, Ulsterbus & Northern Ireland Railways (Translink) will accept the card as proof of student status for discounted fares.  On top of this, it allows you discounts in over 200 shops, accommodation, etc around Ireland.

• When does the Student Travelcard expire?

  Every September a new card is issued we change the colour of the card every year to ensure there is no fraud in our system.  If you purchase the card in September 2011 it will expire in December 2012. The expiry date is printed on the card.

• How do I add a discount from my favourite shop?

  If you know a shop, restaurant, cinema, etc, that would like to offer Student Travelcard holders a discount, please email us info@studenttravelcard.ie and we will then contact them on your behalf to see if they are interested in giving student discounts.
